Ecco Caffe (now Intelligentsia) founder Andrew Barnett is opening Linea Caffe to make sure the Mission never, ever runs out of caffeine. The Scoop tells us the stand-up espresso-centric bar will be different than big, airy coffee halls (a la Sightglass, etc.) and more of a coffee-to-go concept (like Blue Bottle in Hayes Valley). Linea will settle in right off of Mission Street behind the Duc Loi grocery store on 18th.

Anthony Myint, co-owner and co-founder of Linea’s to-be neighbors, Commonwealth and Mission Chinese food, respectively, is in on the venture. He'll be offering Brussels-style sweet and savory waffles under the moniker Lt. Waffle and GreenSalads.org, salads tossed-to-order and complete with a manifesto (we are most in line with the “Good ranch dressing is awesome” decree), to start off with, although it seems Barnett sees the food aspect at Linea as more of an incubator for rotating kitchen talent.

They’re looking to open in May, hours will be 7:30 am to 2:30 pm.
