The Wild Turkeys of Berkeley, which we first heard about last year but which seem to have been proliferating for several years now, have moved in to Albany. As CBS 5 is reporting, whole gangs of turkeys have been showing up in an Albany neighborhood, shitting all over things, and some parents are even afraid to let their kids out of the house.

To be clear, these turkeys are quite large, defiant, unafraid of humans, and will occasionally get aggressive. They appear to breeding like rabbits. And, interestingly, the Bay Area Bird Blog noted that "they particularly seem to hate people walking bicycles, although they’re OK with bikes being ridden."

The town of Albany suggests that people who want to rid themselves of the birds install motion-detecting sprinklers.

But you can bet a few "heritage turkeys" on Thanksgiving tables next year might not actually come from a store.
