Four people were killed Friday in separate incidents in Oakland within six hours. This gave way to an extraordinarily violent weekend in Oakland in which another eleven people were shot, some likely in connected incidents, but all the subsequent incidents on Saturday and Sunday were non-fatal.

On Friday, four people were murdered: Eddiebo Rodriguez, 20; Larry Lovette, 30; a male 17-year-old Oakland resident who has not been identified, and a 22-year-old Oakland resident who hasn't been identified.

Following the deaths, the Oakland police have only said that the violence was connected to "an going battle between several groups."

Then things escalated over the weekend, although the subsequent incidents were non-fatal.

Per the Tribune:

Then on Sunday at about 1:45 p.m., a man in his mid-20s was shot in the arm on the 600 block of East 18th Street, and was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, Lt. Robert Chan said. Police briefly blocked traffic in that area after residents reported hearing several gunshots.

Before 7:30 p.m., a local hospital called to report that a man walked in to the emergency room and said he had been shot near 80th Street and International Boulevard, said Oakland police Spokeswoman Johnna Watson.
