Oakland Zoo Gets Surprise, Anonymous $1 Million Gift

Just in time for Christmas, the Oakland Zoo just got an anonymous $1 million donation. The gift was given through the San Francisco Foundation under the condition that the donor not be revealed, and the Zoo is super grateful! But they wish they knew who to be grateful to!

The millionaire animal lover's gift comes just as the zoo is in the midst of a $72 million expansion, which will make the zoo the largest in the Northern California. The project, if fully funded, will add 56 acres to the 45-acre facility, as the Business Times reports, and will include a veterinary hospital, and a 20-acre California exhibit featuring native species like grizzly bears and California condors.
