MUJI, the (other) highly anticipated Japanese discount retailer coming to San Francisco this Fall has announced that their first West Coast outpost will open in SoMa on November 30th — just in time for your post-Thanksgiving, pre-Holiday shopping binge. There will be tote bags.

MUJI, short for Mujirushi Ryohin which translates to "no-brand quality goods,” should fit right in here in San Francisco with their focus on responsibly manufactured goods and emphasis on low-waste and recycled materials. MUJI SOMA, as they're calling the company's first U.S. outlet outside of New York, will fling the doors open to their 7,250 square-foot space at 540 Ninth Street at the very reasonable hour of 11 a.m. on November 30th. In the spirit of holiday giving (and because San Francisco banned shopping bags) the first 1,000 people through the door get a free tote bag. Everyone loves tote bags.

After the grand opening, the store will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11:00a.m. to 6:30p.m. on Sundays so you'll have plenty of time to buy your parents matching pairs of fuzzy slippers for Christmas.
