Early Sunday morning around 2 a.m., a woman was fatally stabbed on Eddy Street near the Bay Area Women's & Children's Center in the Tenderloin. The suspect is described only as a man between 25 and 30 years old and had not been found as of Monday.
Officers responding to the disturbance call arrived to find the woman suffering from knife wounds. She has not been identified because the Medical Examiner's office has yet to notify the victim's family.
The homicide marks the second — possibly the third — over a particularly violent weekend. A 22-year-old man was shot and killed near 16th and Valencia early Saturday morning. In the third incident, currently labeled a possible homicide by SFPD, a man was found dead in his Tenderloin apartment due to "some sort of head injury."
After the weekend violence, San Francisco has experienced 52 homicides so far in 2012.
