The official theme tune for the new James Bond film, Skyfall, has been leaked online. It's by Adel and it lands with a resounding "oh yeah, that sounds like it's from a James Bond movie." From what we hear of it, it sounds like it's trying very hard to be a classic Bond theme, boasting a 77-piece orchestra and Bond-esque gravitas. "Designer Imposters Perfume knock-off Bond theme," is how a friend described it to SFist.
"There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song," Adele explained to the BBC. "But I fell in love with the script and Paul (Epworth) had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life."
Now, we all know what the greatest James Bond theme songs are. "For Your Eyes Only" (Sheena Easton!), "Nobody Does It Better" (Marvin Hamlisch and Carly Simon!), "Goldfinger" (Brassy with Bassey!), and "GoldenEye" (Tina Turner!) are up there. Does this rank up there or will it be remembered as another "Die Another Day" or "View to a Kill"?
