On Monday, we shared the story of a stubborn homeless guy who attacked a Park Ranger with a stick, forcing said ranger to call for police backup. That suspect has been identified as 39-year-old transient William Henry Deegan, and he has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon for wielding the broken tree limb.

Filling in the rest of the details, we learn that the incident happened in a forested area near Transverse Drive in Golden Gate Park, which sounds like it could have been a minefield of deadly weapons. (Pretty much anything you can swing hard enough to kill somebody could be considered a deadly weapon. Like Mike Tyson's fists.)

Anyhow, both the Park Ranger and the SFPD officer who were injured in the incident were treated on the scene. Deegan was also charged with resisting arrest and threatening a peace officer. As it turns out, he also has an outstanding warrant for skipping out on a court hearing.
