This morning around 10 a.m., a homeless man in Golden Gate Park became violent when a park ranger approached him in the park. The homeless man apparently did not like being hassled by the fellow in the flat-brimmed hat and attacked the the ranger with a stick or a broken tree branch, leading him to call for police backup.

According to Bay City News, the SFPD officer who arrived on the scene was also injured when he crossed paths with the tree limb-wielding homeless man. No word yet on how badly our park-protecting heroes were hurt, or exactly what kind of twig we're talking about here. (Deciduous or evergreen? We're dying to know.) The suspect was eventually arrested and the incident remains under investigation.
