An oil collection truck made a slippery situation near the Moscone Center in SoMa late this afternoon when it spilled 100 gallons of cooking oil out on to the roadway at Fourth and Howard Streets. Fire crews reportedly responded by closing nearby sewer grates and tossing kitty litter on to the oily, greasy mess.

The truck belonged to Oakland-based biodiesel supplier Sirona Fuels. According to the company, a bin containing the gallons of used cooking oil somehow fell off a truck around 3 p.m. this afternoon. Sirona Fuels sent their own cleanup crew to help SFFD and DPW workers sprinkle the mess in kitty liter.

Here's one more shot from ABC7's skycam, and CBS5 has the all-too-brief video report.
