One Rincon Hill, which is not so affectionately known around town as the Middle Finger building because of its position, off by itself in the skyline (and its, ahem, uninspired design), just brought in some reality TV stars to help promote the last 14 units they have left to sell. The remaining units, mostly penthouses at the top of the 60-story tower, are priced between $1.8 million and $2.6 million, and obviously the people with that kind of money have been looking elsewhere in town to buy, so the developer brought in realty-reality TV stars Ryan Serhant of Bravo's Million Dollar Listing and Maggie Kent and Curtis Nixon of HGTV's Selling New York to attend a "luncheon" this week.
It's the tallest residential building on the West Coast, and it has phenomenal views, and Nixon claimed that similar units would be selling for twice the price per square foot in New York. But so far, four years after construction was completed, those penthouse units remain unsold. The push to sell them comes as the developer is rumored to finally begin construction on the shorter North Tower, which was supposed to have started construction in 2008 just as the financial crisis began. Rumor has it, they're breaking ground as early as August, but they probably don't want to talk about the big construction mess that will make living there unpleasant when they still have units to sell.
