Oh geez. The San Francisco Giants were dealt another blow after Pablo Sandoval, arguably the team's best hitter, fractured his left hamate bone. (It's the "small, hook-like bone at the base of the hand, near the wrist.") If you recall, Sandoval injured right right hamate bone last season, which resulted surgery and six weeks on the DL. As The Splash points out, "clearly this is another major, traumatic blow for a team that already has lost closer Brian Wilson for the season."

Although Sandoval missed 41 games last season due to the same injury. the Giants did well. That was then. The Giants need runs. Now it's going to be that more difficult. Anyway, no word yet as to if he's officially on the DL and for how long, but it doesn't look good.
