Today's reminder that the rest of America doesn't quite share San Francisco's loose morals compassionate attitude when it comes to marijuana sales: ten Bay Area residents and two East Coasters were busted in Santa Rosa allegedly conspiring to cultivate and traffic Sonoma-grown weed to New York, Boston and California.

Narc squad detectives with the Santa Rosa PD confiscated 39 pounds of processed weed and $280,000 in cash during searches of several locations in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa. Edward and Collette Wight (43 and 40 years old, respectively) of Santa Rosa apparently served at the ringleaders for a grow operation run out of a home in Sebastopol. Six other suspects — all but one of whom were Bay Area 20-somethings — were busted at or near the grow house.

The two out of towners, meanwhile, hailed from East Coast suburbs Staten Island, New York and Waltham, Massachusetts and were apparently holed up in a Sebastopol motel with 150 grand stashed in their rental car and another pound of pot in their room.

All the suspects were booked in to the Sonoma County Jail on various charges including: possession of marijuana for sale, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, transportation of marijuana for sales and cultivation of marijuana. A few other members of the operation were still at large as of yesterday and are believed to have fled the state, probably heading somewhere "chill" for a while. Like Colorado.

Even closer to home, SFPD busted another grow operation on 17th Avenue in the Inner Parkside where the illegal growers had literally hundreds of plants stuffed in every corner of their grow house.
