Officers arrived to the scene of an apparent hate crime to find a 26-year-old victim "visibly shaken" after being beaten and kicked on a Muni bus. The incident, which happened in Potrero Hill near De Haro Street and Southern Heights Avenue, happened while the victim was in her seat and another woman "suddenly punched and kicked her several times."
According to ABC 7, "The victim told police she heard the suspect make remarks about her race. A witness corroborated the victim's story, and said that when he asked the suspect why she had attacked the victim, the suspect said it was because of the difference in their races."
Police wouldn't reveal the victim's or the suspect's race. They know the suspect's identity. They're working on obtaining a warrant for her arrest. In the meantime, anyone with information about the case should call the Police Department's Bayview Station at 415-671-2300, the department's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
