The town is abuzz with the opening of this retrospective of the work of fashion designer John Paul Gaultier, opening this weekend at the De Young Museum — which we should note is becoming quite the powerhouse, nationally, when it comes to the world of costume collections and fashion-as-art shows. Perhaps you aren't a member and weren't lucky or rich enough to score a ticket to the gala opening party tonight.
