Gary Scott Holland, the creepy dude with a thing for the occult who posed as a PG&E repairman in order to enter the Russian Hill home of 46-year-old Kate Horan and murder her in October 2010, is scheduled for sentencing today at 1:30 p.m. Holland took a plea deal last month, pleading guilty to the murder in exchange for a sentence of 50 years to life.
As Bay City News reminds us, Horan was killed with a pry bar and a knife, and her body was found the next day. Holland was arrested shortly thereafter when he was found sleeping in Sutro Heights Park. At the time, Holland was a recent parolee having served 11 years of a 13-year sentence for the attempted murder of his aunt in Fresno County in the 90s.
Now, at last, it looks like he'll be going away for the duration.
