Whether one nurses an extreme case of O.C.D. or is prone to walking around ladders and not under them (it’s just good sense), superstitions are mostly benign and rooted in arcane legend. Take, for example, uttering “rabbit, rabbit” at the start of each month.

We’ve no idea when or why we started, but it has become something of a habit, probably planted in our soft heads at an impressionable age. At least a few of our colleagues do it, usually first thing in the morning before getting out of bed.

If you’ve no idea what we’re talking about, here’s a little context. For a fun time, do check out the maddening variations.

So, walking around cracks, salt over the shoulder, repetitious rodent utterances: do you do it, too?

[Editor's Note: As you might have noticed, we've had some guest editors around here this week. Please take a moment to welcome Nicole, she of The Tenderloin Geographic Society who will be filing for Brock leading up to your Labor Day weekend. And while we're at it, how about a round of applause for Renée, our Monday - Wednesday guest editor?]
