Working yet again with the Naval Research Lab, Google unveiled their first real-time weather layer to go with Google Maps. The weather feature will show current temperatures and conditions around the world. This makes the 11th layer one can implement while using maps, with traffic and transit being the most popular. In related Google news, new CEO and controlled demolition enthusiast Larry Page is running a tighter ship than his predecessor, Eric "Burning Man" Schmidt, at least according to one report. Gawker's Ryan Tate notes, "Page has been cleaning house, shutting down underperforming products, the Google Labs incubator, and even stoking rumors (which we've also heard, and which Google denies) that it will end its famed '20 percent time' program for employee experimentation."
