On Tuesday night's episode of Conan, Palo Alto-bred wunderkind and your boyfriend James Franco dropped in to support his latest role in Rise of the Planet of the Apes*, but during the interview the conversation steered towards Franco's attempts at amateur porn making and his respect for the folks in the adult film business. Which leads us to the bit about his Kink.com documentary.

During the Interview, Franco tells Conan:

I’m making a documentary about pornography. There’s this amazing facility in San Francisco. It’s at this old armory and they do everything in house, they build their props in house, so I’m making a documentary about that.

Although, he never namedrops Kink.com specifically, pretty much everyone in San Francisco ought to be able to figure out what he's talking about here. As for the inspiration for the project, porn industry news source Xbiz.com reports [warning: probably NSFW] he was recently in town shooting Cherry a (likely) R-rated flick set in San Francisco and co-written by adult performer Lorelei Lee, that may or may not contain some scenes at the Armory.

Also confirming the project was a now-deleted tweet from Kink.com performer Rain DeGrey, which according to Indiewire originally read: “Kink.com is all aflutter today because James Franco is here shooting his new movie. All these girls want to f*ck him! lol.”

LOL, indeed, Ms. DeGrey.

Anyway, now we have two porn-adjacent, San Francisco-shot projects to look forward to: Cherry, which IMDB says should be coming out in 2012 and the Untitled James Franco Porno Project. The latter, we imagine will probably just turn in to another one of those things you hear James Franco's name attached to but you never actually watch.

Here's the full interview from Tuesday night's episode of Conan:

*We should also mention that the ape prequel (or whatever) was shot in San Francisco and you should read the Appeal's delightful review of the film.

Hat tip to Mission Mission for their wonderfully punny headline.
