Seemingly well-loved Bay Area French coffee-and-pastry chain La Boulange is getting another outpost downtown in the near future. As Inside Scoop reports, the new spot will be a mere two blocks down the street from their Market and 3rd location and four stories up in the Westfield Centre. Besides lacking their usual sidewalk seating, the new location will be a bit of a departure for the bread and coffee makers: the new interior apparently draws its inspiration from the gardens of Versailles. (How regal!)

If the mall seems like an odd fit for La Boulange, which has been sprouting new locations on café-friendly corridors from Noe Valley to Lafayette over the past few years, consider that the chain might have a hard time moving in to more neighborhood locations now that it fits the city's definition of "formula retail". Including a forthcoming spot on California Street, that makes 15 total locations for the Bay Area Bread Group. Following the company's usual naming convention, the latest location will be called "La Boulange du Dome".
