Yesterday some concerned Dolores Park neighbors feared that the Rec & Parks Department would be imposing a $100 security deposit on picnics in the much-loved and occasionally quite crowded park. As the Examiner reports today, the deposit is only for the use of a picnic table and would be returned assuming reasonable picnickers cleaned up after themselves. (There's a $27 registration fee to use the tables, as is also the case in Golden Gate Park.) New D8 Supervisor Scott Wiener, already inundated with emails on the matter, assured us groups with less than 25 people and no desire to sit at a picnic table are still welcome to lounge on the grassy areas free of charge.
