As we pointed out the other day, the Board of Supervisors is set to select Gavin's successor tomorrow. Technically speaking, the most important vote this board will ever make is to decide whether whether they should use the process designed by Board Clerk Angela Cavillo to select a new Mayor.

Assuming that motion goes forward, the supes will be racing to get in their nominations and then making a selection for the interim mayor. Of course, as the Appeal pointed out, any selection the current board makes won't necessarily stick - the selection will have to be voted on again after Newsom is sworn in as Lt. Governor, which is still expected to be January 3rd.

Meanwhile, lets hope the process doesn't take too long, because Board President (and a potential interim Mayor) David Chiu will be hosting a Pizza Party immediately after at Tony's Pizza Napoletana [warning: cheesy background music] in North Beach, where he and Chef Tony will be "teaching you the fine art of pizza making and tossing." Tickets are a steal at $100 a head, but they come with Tony's secret recipe at least.
