A huge week of shows with dancey Barcelona quartet Delorean at Great American Music Hall Wednesday, Colorado gem Woodsman at Milk Thursday and drum-centric electronic act Publicist at Mezzanine Friday.
Our featured act his week is The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, who play with the previously profiled (and all around excellent) Weekend at The Independent tonight. Like the bulk of acts on the D.C. turned Oakland-based indie staple Slumberland, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart stand at the forefront of the current noise-pop movement -- bands that constantly evoke the terms "blissful", "fuzzy" and "hazy" across the blogsphere. Yet while many of the varied acts lumped into this partially shoegaze-inspired revival tend to mask their pop tendencies under a thick wall of reverb, the Brooklyn-based quartet opts to highlight and lead with their knack for writing enjoyable jangle-pop tracks. Tonight also celebrates the release of Weekend's long awaited Slumberland debut Sports -- catch a sneak peak, and be sure to snag a copy at the show.
Plenty of other show options including The Soft Pack at Rickshaw Stop tonight, the previously profiled Nosaj Thing and Toro Y Moi at Rickshaw Stop Friday and experimental Los Angeles duo High Places at Bottom of the Hill Sunday.
