This might just be the most packed seven days of live shows of the year, with a plethora of Coachella must-see acts routing through San Francisco before and after their scheduled festival appearances. And while many of the big-name concerts have sadly sold out (see: MGMT, Yeasayer, Miike Snow, Delorean, Hot Chip, Thom York's Atoms for Peace, Flying Lotus, Beach House, Faith No More, Passion Pit, The Dead Weather, Deerhunter, Spoon and La Roux), there are still plenty of great shows to choose from, with San Diego garage rock quartet The Soft Pack at Bottom of the Hill Thursday, local dance-friendly favorites Butterfly Bones at Rickshaw Stop Friday and recently reunited post-punk pioneers Public Image Limited at The Regency Ballroom Saturday.

Our featured artist this week, however, is South Carolina bedroom producer Toro Y Moi, who plays Bottom of the Hill tonight. While consistently lumped in with fellow 80s synth-pop lovers Memory Tapes, Neon Indian and Washed Out, Toro Y Moi (aka 23-year-old Chaz Bundick) notably dips into the same 90s trip-hop palette as his contemporaries Flying Lotus and Nosaj Thing, creating an unusually unique and enjoyable sound in the process. We wouldn't be surprised to see his recently released debut LP Causers of This hovering around the top of the more buzz-worthy year end lists come December -- it just gets better and better with each listen. With New Zealand's Ruby Suns and Oakland's Dreamdate rounding out the bill, this one should be well worth your $10.
