Thursday night's Matcha: Ghosts & Golden Clouds is the last Matcha of the season. Email [email protected] with Matcha in the subject heading and include your full name. The seventh entrant wins the tickets!
In Japanese Noh theatre, ghosts are usually upset females who won't go peacefully into the night. Storytellers help people remember the past, and ghost stories remind us that what remains after we are dead are the consequences of our actions.
Brenda Wong Aoki will perform Japanese ghost tales with Emmy Award-winning jazz composer Mark Izu, the taiko drums of Janet Koike & Kathryn Cabunoc, Anthony Brown on multiple percussion, Shoko Hikage on koto, and Mas Koga on saxophone and shakuhachi.
Make your own Noh mask, have some beverages, and take a docent tour of the exhibition Beyond Golden Clouds, which showcases dozens of large Japanese screens spanning five centuries.
