Early Sunday morning, a woman jumped to her death from an eighth floor apartment building at 888 O'Farrell. The scene, according to SF Appeal, was grim. The unidentified woman, while jumping from the burning apartment "hit a street-level tree during the fall and was killed."

A second man was whisked to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to reports, the two-alarm fire was started by a burning mattress. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
