Wells Fargo, the fourth largest bank in the U.S., will eliminate some 3,800 jobs, around 1.4 percent of its workforce. Sad. We like the Farg. (Now, we use small credit unions, of course, but if we ever hit the California Lottery big, which we absolutely plan on doing, we'll be sure to transfer several of our gold bricks to the San Francisco company.) According to The Chronicle, "Wells Fargo will close 638 independent consumer-finance branches and stop making non-prime home loans."
