"I shouldn't have taken Sandra from you. She did not suffer and I did not sexually molest your daughter," said convicted murdered Melissa Huckaby, who, just this morning, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the death of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.
But how did Huckaby kill Cantu, exactly? That's what many want to know, but won't dare admit to others, or even themselves. CBS 5's Joe Vazquez, however, has uncovered several details about what happened in April of 2009.
Cantu's official cause death was ruled "homicidal asphyxiation." Her body, according to toxicology reports, "contained the prescription drug alprazolam (Xanax), a second generation Benzodiazepine." Bottles of alprazolam were uncovered in Huckaby's purse and home.
What's more, "a piece of torn cloth, soiled with blood" was found tied around Cantu's head in a noose.
