Day Laborers Protest Sit/Lie

While sit/lie law protests may have turned into a vanity project for many -- a Frank Chu-ian presence, while amusing in some instances, is simply grating at other rallies -- there are some for whom the issue remains a vital one. Day laborers, for example, could feel a sharp sting (economic or otherwise) if Newsom's sit/lie law goes into effect. Day laborers, according to BCN (via CBS 5), stand for hours in the sun waiting to be picked up, and need to be able to sit down. At Saturday's sit/lie demonstration in the Mission district, "about 40 demonstrators sat in metal chairs on a sidewalk while holding signs that read, 'Sidewalks are for people, No on Sit/Lie.'"
