This heads-up comes to SFist directly via Johnny Funcheap himself. Seventy-four artists have collaborated to create sixteen site-specific art installations throughout the Tenderloin District (from Geary to Market, Larkin to Mason) in the month-long Wonderland exhibition.

Wonderland is born of, and responds to, the rich diversities of the neighborhood and is aimed at presenting art directly to its working-class residents. Wonderland organizer Lance Fung says, “We chose the Tenderloin to work in as it remains one of the most authentic areas in the USA. Despite the mythology of its dangerous nature, there is an ease about the community.”

The event launches tomorrow at Boeddeker Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with opening remarks at Noon. There will also be a public symposium at the Warfield on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Wonderland runs through November 9. Check out the map.
