According to yesterday's Richmond Police newsletter (via RichmondSF), an arsonist was arrested yesterday.

On July 30, 2009 at about 3:00 AM, alert Richmond Station plain clothes officers spotted a wanted arson suspect near the Great Highway. The officers were in the area due to several recent incidents where vehicles had been intentionally set on fire. The investigation of those recent incidents has been assigned to the Arson Detail. Investigators will be looking for connections between the suspect we arrested and unsolved, intentionally set fires in the City.

Is said arson suspect the Auto Arsonist Carsonist, the person who torched at least 12 vehicles since Saturday? No one knows yet. But since it's been all quiet on the blaze front since yesterday, we can only hope the SFPD has snatched this lunatic.
