Tomorrow night, the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society will host a panel discussion on the history of the Castro District at the Metropolitan Community Church at 7 p.m.

In its first 200 years, the neighborhood has had several names, "Rancho San Miguel, Horner’s Addition, Eureka Valley, Little Scandinavia, Most Holy Redeemer Parish, and The Castro."

There will be a slide show of historical images, along with anecdotes told by four renowned storytellers: Playwright/director Allen Sawyer, who managed the Castro Theatre in the late 1970s, Reverend Jim Mitulski, former pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church, Sande Leigh, principal of the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, and author/historian Jim Van Buskirk, who will moderate.

The event is co-sponsored by the San Francisco History Center, located at the San Francisco Public Library, the GLBT Historical Society, and the LGBT Community Center.
