We kid, we kid, cause there's one super gigantic big thing out there and we all know what it is-- Barry's chase to 756.
At the start of the season, we were ambivalent about it. In all honesty, we don't want Barry to hold the record because, yes, we're a little icked out about the whole cheating thing. But we were torn between our desire to see him play well (Barry playing well equals Giants playing well) and either him not playing well or him going out with a season ending injury. As the Giants started sucking and it became apparent that whatever Barry does wouldn't stop the suckage, we started rooting for that career ending injury. Instant karma and all that. But now that we start the second half of the season and as we once again begin the death march to 756, all we can say is let's go Barry. Why? Because the longer this drags on, the longer we have to put up with the endless and exhaustive debates, the constant pondering of What Would Bud Do, the endless cries of messages sent to our poor innocent children-- the whole big, fat, black cloud that hangs over all of this.
The thing we compare all this to is when you have a bad toothache. First, you think it might not be so bad so you might be able to get away with not seeing the dentist. But then you realize that despite your best wishes, you have to see one. Then comes the big decision-- to make an appointment early to get the damn thing over with or to push the appointment to a later date so you can delay the pain and suffering that comes with it.
So with all that being said, bring on the dentist drill.
