Man -- we were so distracted this morning with that spam attack that we totally missed the earthquake! Two quakes rumbled through the area this morning, around 11:30 a.m. The first quake, at a 2.8 magnitude, hit at 11:24 a.m. and the second hit 10 minutes later, at a magnitude of 3.4.

The quakes were centered in Orinda, and people reported feeling the quake up in Berkeley and SF (though again, not us -- but if anyone wants some very special offers from "Betsy Markum," let us know). In Alameda, alarms went off when the quake hit, but Alameda says this was all part of a preplanned system check and it was just a coincidence that the alarms went off when they did.

USGS info here, and the pretty map (of the 2.8 quake) is from their site as well.
