Following Friday night's mass shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield, there was a shooting in nearby Vacaville on Halloween night that left a teenager gravely injured.

The shooting occurred around 10:20 pm Saturday outside a home near Canterbury Circle and Hampton Street in Vacaville.

As the Vacaville Police Department explains in a release, "When officers arrived on scene, they located a juvenile victim lying in the roadway who appeared to have been shot. Officers provided medical aid on scene until Fire personnel arrived, and the victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition."

The suspect or suspects in the shooting remain at large.

Police updated the public on Sunday morning saying that the victim is a 15-year-old boy, and he was listed in stable condition and was expected to survive.

"While this is an ongoing investigation, preliminary information suggests this was an isolated incident stemming from an argument during a gathering at a nearby residence," the police say.

Just hours before the shooting occurred, Vacaville police had posted to Facebook sharing condolences about Friday's shooting in the neighboring city of Fairfield. "We recognize incidents like this can weigh heavily on all of us, especially as families prepare to come together for Halloween festivities," they wrote.

Anyone with information about Saturday's shooting is asked to call the department's anonymous tip line at 707-454-5722.
