Firefighters in Alameda were battling a fire at a vacant, multi-story building Thursday morning that is part of the Alameda Naval Air Station, and some neighbors are wondering about an individual who often sleeps there.
The fire occurred around 1:30 am Thursday at a vacant, warehouse-type building on the 2300 block of Rainbow Court, near Sunrise Court. According to the Alameda Fire Department, by the time trucks arrived, the fire had already spread through the entire building.

NBC Bay Area reported that the fire had been knocked down by around 10 am, and no injuries were reported in the blaze.
Separately, KRON4 reported that a search was on for a homeless individual who was known to stay in the abandoned building. That person's whereabouts remain unknown.
Alameda FD spokesperson Kevin Tidwell said that firefighters were continuing to search the wreckage.
"They’re utilizing their drone technology with infrared, searching the building, trying to get into places where we can’t get actual firefighters just due to the unsteady nature of the building," Tidwell told KRON4.
Reportedly, two people were also arrested Thursday morning for entering the area after the fire was put out.
