  • Monterey County authorities are searching for 38-year-old Sergio Galvez Perez and a 14-year-old girl he has with him, after the remains of an infant were found by the side of the road in Moss Landing on August 1. The county sheriff's office believes 14-year-old gave birth to the infant, and Perez is wanted on suspicion of six crimes, including incest, child endangerment, child concealment, and child sex crimes.   • San Francisco firefighters and SF Animal Care & Control rescued a wild parrot that got its head stuck between pieces of glass on a third-floor balcony on Telegraph Hill on Sunday. The parrot was uninjured but had apparently been stuck for hours. [Facebook]
  • Hodo Foods, the Oakland tofu maker celebrated by many Bay Area chefs, has issued a recall for its Chili Crisp Lightly Fried Tofu due to possible contamination from ink. [Chronicle]

  • The Supreme Court, once again on the shadow docket, has given the go-ahead for construction to continue on Trump's White House ballroom, despite objections from preservationists. In a dissent, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberals in arguing that the aesthetic harms felt by preservationists amount to real harms, in this case. [Associated Press]
  • Singer Lionel Richie has checked himself into a hospital "out of an abundance of caution" following a headlining appearance over the weekend. Richie has been touring with Earth, Wind & Fire, whose longtime drummer, John Paris, was hospitalized in San Francisco after a medical emergency, which led to a last-minute cancellation of a Chase Center show, and was briefly in an induced coma earlier this month.   • Amid ongoing turmoil in the US Armed Forces, Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll is resigning after clashing with racist, transphobic, and sexist Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the dismissal of combat-tested leaders. [New York Times]
