- All that spending on ads by AIPAC to attack state Senator Aisha Wahab may have had an impact, and the runoff election to complete the remainder of former Congressman Eric Swalwell's term is looking very close. - A string of auto burglaries in Piedmont on the morning of August 16 is now under investigation by Piedmont police. [KRON4]
- Animal rights advocates have renewed calls to remove all dolphins from captivity at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo after a bottlenose dolphin that had been there 40 years recently was euthanized. [Bay City News]
- Advocates for a 3-year-old Anatolian Shepherd named Bruce who was sentenced to euthanasia in Ventura County because he was deemed "vicious" filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court to save him, highlighting how many emergency requests the court gets these days — and he was euthanized before they could consider the case.
