A body was seen floating in the Bay near the Embarcadero Sunday evening, and was apparently seen by passersby before it was recovered by the San Francisco Fire Department.
An investigation is underway into a body that was found floating in San Francisco on Sunday. Firefighters responded to the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building around 7:37 pm Sunday on a report of a body in the water.
The Xitter account Tenderloinactivities posted video (Warning: it's graphic) from an onlooker who spotted the body, which appeared to have shoes on. The person taking the video could be heard saying, "Oh my god, is that real?"
As NBC Bay Area reports, the body was transported to Pier 22 1/2, which is home to the fire department's Fireboat Station 35.
The body has been transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
No further details were available.
This is a developing story.
