- A person was found dead inside a residence near Angels Camp in the burn scar of the Gann Fire in Calaveras County, officials said Thursday. This is the first death associated with the fire, which has burned over 10,000 acres, and the man who says he started it has publicly apologized, saying he was sawing some scrap material which caused the sparks that ignited the wildfire.
