  • The two sides have been negotiating all day and continue to do so into the evening, but the teachers’ union and the district have still not reached a deal and the schools will remain closed on Wednesday. They made some progress on wage increases for janitors and teachers’ aides, and the teachers lowered their salary raise demand from 9% to 8%, but the district is holding firm at 6%. [Chronicle]
  • Well what do you know, the pastor who performed the wedding in the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show was from Sacramento! He’s Pastor Antonio Reyes, he was chosen to marry Eleisa "Elli" Aparico and Thomas "Tommy" Wolter after a rigorous background check process that sized up nearly 40 churches, and he couldn’t say much more because he had to sign an NDA.   • Steph Curry will not play in this Sunday’ NBA All-Star Game because of the knee injury he’s nursing, and there will be no Warriors in this year’s All-Star Game. In fact, Curry will be shelved until February 19, so he will have had a full three weeks’ rest. [NBC Bay Area]

  • In perhaps Trump’s biggest-ever symbolic fuck you to the LGBTQ community, his administration has removed the Pride flag from New York’s Stonewall Inn, which they can do, because the National Park System has jurisdiction over the small park in front of Stonewall Inn because it was declared a federal monument.   • In Savannah Guthrie's mom news, the FBI now has a new photo of the masked suspect who entered Nancy Guthrie’s home, which was apparently recovered from "residual data located in backend systems." [CBS News]
  • Trump’s Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick is in hot water after admitting he visited Epstein Island in 2012, after for many years vowing that he’d cut off all contact with Epstein in 2005. [The Hill]
