Oakland police are investigating a possible homicide after a gruesome discovery over the weekend.
A dismembered body was found Sunday morning in East Oakland. Oakland police say they made the discovery around 10 am on the 9700 block of San Leandro Street, as KRON4 reports. And, the OPD says, the body "appeared to be in a state of decomposition and dismemberment."
An investigation into the cause of death is underway, and police say that they can not even confirm at this time whether the remains were male or female.
Homicide investigators are on the case, and an autopsy is being performed.
