- Even though there's little protest happening in LA this week and the curfew's been lifted, President Trump just activated another 2,000 National Guard troops in a blatantly unnecessary show of force. This comes a day after a panel of Ninth Circuit appellate judges indicated they may side with him on his use of the National Guard. [NBC Los Angeles] Update: The government clarified that the announcement pertained to the last 2,000 troops deployed, and the total number of federalized troops remains 4,800 — 4,100 National Guard, and 700 Marines.
