A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning at the intersection of Parnassus Avenue and Stanyan Street, in a collision involving a dump truck.

As ABC 7 reports, police responded to the collision near UCSF Parnassus at 8:44 am and found a male victim in the street following a vehicle collision.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his name has not been released.

An investigator tells the station that the dump truck was attempting to make a right turn onto Parnassus and the driver allegedly did not see the pedestrian. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police.

Police say they do not believe that alcohol or drug impairment were a factor in the collision.

A significant amount of construction is underway at UCSF Parnassus, however KTVU reports that it was not yet clear whether the dump truck was tied to that construction project.

From chopper images posted to KTVU, the dump truck appeared not to have any cargo at the time of the crash.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
