• After the June 28 Supreme Court ruling, Oakland officials say they will begin to clear out homeless encampments, starting Tuesday with a beach just north of the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza. The group of shanties and RVs has been camped at what's called Toll Plaza Beach for about four years. [Chronicle]
  • 16,000 customers might lose power this weekend, PG&E warns. With a high wind advisory in place for this weekend, PG&E says many of its customers across various Bay Area counties may lose power in public-safety power shutoffs to prevent wildfires. [ABC7]
  • Bay Area COVID cases continue to rise. The California Department of Public Health stated that wastewater data showed higher levels of the virus at various wastewater monitoring sites. Dr. Vanessa Walker of Sutter Health told NBC Bay Area, "I mean, it just continues to find new ways to develop, you know, ways to evade the immune system.   • We may be seeing more of the box-like robotaxis from Amazon's Zoox on San Francisco streets soon. The driverless taxis have no real front or back, and they've been testing at an office park in Foster City, and in a small area of Las Vegas. [Chronicle]
