- Anderson Lee Aldrich, the 24-year-old shooter in the 2022 mass shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs that killed five people and injured 19 others, accepted a plea deal and was sentenced today to 55 concurrent life sentences for 74 federal hate-crime charges. Aldrich is already serving five consecutive life sentences in a state prison after pleading guilty last year in state court — and at the time he was still denying that the shooting was a hate crime. - California is returning 2,820 acres of land to the Shasta Indian Nation, in the largest land return in state history. The land return is associated with the Klamath River dam removal project, with the installation of the dams having led to to the removal of Indigenous people. [SFGate]
- An old cruise ship that allegedly inspired The Love Boat, the Aurora, which has been moored in the Delta near Stockton for many years and has been slowly sinking since May, and an effort to refloat it was successful over the weekend.
