A man was found fatally shot Monday night after he crashed his car in San Leandro, near the Oakland border.

The shooting reportedly took place at MacArthur Boulevard and 98th Avenue in Oakland, per NBC Bay Area, around 11:20 pm Monday. The male driver of a black sedan was shot while he was in the vehicle, and he proceeded to drive about a mile, to MacArthur Boulevard and Durant Avenue in San Leandro, before crashing the car.

As KTVU reports, two vehicles were found at the crash scene, "both with some damage." And neighbors in the area reported hearing a loud crash.

One neighbor, Tony Jones, told KTVU that there was "smoke everywhere" after the crash occurred.

Oakland police are treating this as a homicide, and no arrests have been made.

Police have not said whether they know of a possible motive in the shooting, and the victim's name has not been released. The victim was 25 years old, according to Bay Area News Group.

This was the 33rd homicide to occur in Oakland so far this year.
