An 18-year-old man was arrested in Concord Wednesday night after calling police to his home and allegedly telling them that he had just murdered his mother.
Police in the East Bay city say that the man called police dispatch around 9 p.m. Wednesday and said that he has just killed his mother moments earlier. As KRON 4 reports, police then responded to the home on the 3000 block of Treat Boulevard in Concord, and found the 18-year-old waiting outside. The deceased woman was found inside.
The East Bay Times spoke to a police officer who said that arriving officers found the suspect covered in blood, and the victim was found stabbed multiple times. The suspect's name has not been released.
As the Chronicle reports, the woman's name has not been released to the public because her next of kin still needs to be notified. Her name will reportedly not be released until after an autopsy is performed on Tuesday by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office.
No further details were given about what led up to the crime.
This was the first homicide in Concord since November 13.
