- As we get set for more PG&E shutoffs tomorrow, a federal judge is now slapping the utility with a new mandate, regarding the last shutoffs. The judge has ordered PG&E to explain the 100+ instances of equipment damage and downed branches on power lines during the shutoffs two weeks ago, and determine which of those could have caused a fire, and which happened in areas where trees were properly trimmed. - A suspect in the theft of a $100,000 ring in Manteca apparently had hidden the ring "inside his body" but did not swallow it, say police. Sounds like he had it where the sun don't shine. [KCRA]

- A group of teachers at Berkeley High School staged a "sickout" or "wildcat strike" today in order to pressure the school district into meeting their contract demands. [Berkeleyside]
