A Palo Alto man in his 60s who went to check on a smoke alarm that went off at the home he was renting on Airbnb got accosted and robbed, twice, after discovering an unauthorized party at the house and trying to shut it down.
As KPIX reports, the homeowner had rented the house on the 100 block of Tennyson Avenue to two people, but after showing up there around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, he found around 40 people at the house, and understandably got upset.
The man tried telling people to leave, but as KRON 4 reports, everyone was ignoring him, and he apparently got a couple of the partygoers pissed off. The homeowner says that two suspects "approached him in a bedroom, pushing him to the ground and grabbing his wallet and mobile phone," per KPIX.
Another partygoer came to the man's aid and returned his phone and wallet, but after he continued complaining and tried to call 911, another suspect reportedly accosted him again, stole his phone and wallet, and took some money from his pants pocket.
The suspects, and everyone else, then fled the home. Palo Alto police say they are now looking for a black male who is 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing 160 to 170 pounds, who was wearing orange colored pants. The other two suspects were also described as black males between 20 to 25 years old.
